You're question is so long that I can't check but have you spoken to him about this? You don't have to tell him everything that you've told us but as you say you speak to him a lot on MSN have you tried finding out if he's okay/ his relationship with his girlfriend is okay? Try not to be nosey or anything but I think if you talk to him and are willing to listen things might get better. You could also try talking to a parent about this problem and see if they can help.
