How the novel "frankenstein" has been altered by film or other media?
Popular media tends to focus on the monster and grotesque depictions of him, where the book focuses on the scientist, Victor Frankenstein, and grotesque depictions of his own personality and dangerous scientific ambition. This has lead to the actual monster being more recognized as 'Frankenstein' rather than the scientist. The focus on the monster in popular culture gives a larger sensation on visual horror and is quicker to envoke shock and reaction rather than rendering the long tale of Victor which envokes horror and terror of a different kind.
